Arsenal are expected to be a major player in the January window as they continue talks on a successful mid-season deal for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
Meanwhile, the Gunners have also had the option of signing Arthur Melo from Juventus, with Leicester star Youri Tielemans also under consideration as Mikel Arteta seeks to resolve his midfield issues.
North London rivals Tottenham are targeting Jesse Lingard, many of whom expected him to return to West Ham from Old Trafford this month, as they also try to sign Adama Traore from Wolves.
Manchester United are the latest club to be linked with Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey as they also continue their pursuit of Switzerland international Denis Zakaria, with Paul Pogba sparking interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Juventus consider Memphis Depay
He may not have been at Barcelona for very long, but reports from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio suggest Memphis Depay is already a target for another European giant.
The Dutchman is believed to have fallen on Juventus’ radar as he tries to rebuild for the second time under Max Allegri and the Serie A titans could use Barca’s financial woes to their advantage by making a big offer.
Arteta approves Arthur’s loan to Arsenal
More information on Arthur Melo at Arsenal now.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano tweeted that Mikel Arteta had approved a potential loan, with the Gunners ready to cover the Brazilian midfielder’s salary.
However, Juventus have yet to sign the deal and are reportedly expected to sign a replacement for Arthur before they do so.
Ronaldo offers Rangnick’s backing: ‘He needs time’
Cristiano Ronaldo’s apparent discontent at Manchester United has been a constant source of headlines in recent weeks.
However, the Portuguese superstar – linked with Barcelona – has now offered his public support to Old Trafford interim coach Ralf Rangnick.
“Since he arrived … he’s changed a lot of things,” Ronaldo told Sky Sports. “But he needs time to get his ideas across to the players. I think he’s going to do a good job. We know we are not playing the best but we have a lot of games to improve.
“Since he arrived, I think in some ways we are better … It’s not that easy to change the mentality of the players and the way they play, the culture, the system like that.”
However, Ronaldo has also admitted that finishing outside the top three would be unacceptable for United this season.
The club are currently seventh and 11 points behind Liverpool third, after a miserable loss to Wolves followed by an unconvincing FA Cup victory over Aston Villa.
United face Villa in the Premier League again on Saturday night.
“I don’t accept that our mentality is inferior to being in the top three in the Premier League,” Ronaldo added.
“I think that in order to build good things, sometimes you have to destroy a few things. So why not – new year, new life and I hope United can be the level the fans want. They deserve this.
“We are able to change things now. I know the way but I’m not going to mention it here because I don’t think it’s ethical of me to say that. What I can say is we can do better – all of us … I’m here to try to win, to compete.
DEAL DONE! Aston Villa sign Digne
Confirmed deals arrive quickly in the Premier League this morning.
Aston Villa has just announced the arrival of Lucas Digne d’Everton on permanent transfer.
The French left-back had also been linked with Chelsea, West Ham and Newcastle after falling out with Rafael Benitez at Goodison Park, but chose to join Steven Gerrard’s revolution after Philippe Coutinho was loaned out.
“When Lucas became available we jumped at the chance to bring him to the club,” said Gerrard.
“Signing a player of his pedigree and quality in the January window is a great addition to our squad and his arrival excites me and everyone associated with Aston Villa.”
DEAL DONE! Newcastle announce Wood’s arrival
The second signing of a new era at Newcastle is now official.
Forward Chris Wood, who joined Kieran Trippier at St James’ Park, has joined relegation rival Burnley in a deal worth around £ 25million.
The New Zealand international has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Tyneside and is available to make his debut against Watford this weekend.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for me and I am delighted to be a Newcastle United player,” said Wood.
“I’ve played at St. James’ Park a few times and it’s an amazing place so having the chance to represent this club with these amazing supporters behind me and my teammates is very special.
“The club and the manager have been top notch during this process, and I can’t wait to step onto the pitch and restore the confidence they have in me, especially with a vital part of the season ahead. . “
Chelsea target Kimpembe and Tchouameni
Despite suggestions that Rudiger could now stay at Chelsea, L’Equipe in France report that Thomas Tuchel is still interested in reviving a deal for Sevilla center-back Jules Kounde.
Failing that, it could be that Koundé’s teammate in France, Presnel Kimpembe of PSG, will do the trick as the reigning European champions target January reinforcements to continue their fight for the trophies on several fronts.
It is also suggested that Chelsea are in the running for starlet from Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni, although he has yet to make any moves for his services.
Rudiger plans to stay at Chelsea after U-turn
The question of Antonio Rudiger’s future has been a dominant theme at Chelsea in recent months.
The German center-back – who scored the game-winning goal against Tottenham last night – is a key player under Thomas Tuchel, but he looked set to leave this summer with his contract expiring and players like PSG, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Real Madrid are keen on a deal.
However, Bild is now reporting that Rudiger has made a U-turn and would like to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Talks between the two camps are said to have improved after the 28-year-old was initially very unimpressed with Chelsea’s contract offer.
ICYMI – Tottenham interested in signing Lingard
Tottenham are ready to wait until summer to act on their long-term transfer interest in Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, Jack Rosser and Dan Kilpatrick report.
Spurs have seen Lingard as a target since Jose Mourinho’s stay in north London and are now in the race to clinch the England international when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.
It is believed there will be a number of suitors at the end of the season, with Newcastle United having already been linked this month, but Spurs’ interest dates back over a year.
North Londoners moved closer to United and Lingard during the summer window with Nuno Espirito Santo in charge.
Arsenal meet with Tielemans agent
Arthur Melo isn’t the only new midfielder name mentioned in relation to Arsenal.
By goal, the Gunners are also watching Leicester star Youri Tielemans and have had talks with the Belgian agent over a possible transfer.
Tielemans is terminating his contract at King Power in the summer of 2023, although any departure seems more likely this summer at this point.
ICYMI – Arsenal propose deal with Arthur Melo
Arsenal have been offered the possibility of loaning Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, writes Simon Collings.
The Brazilian has struggled for action this season and has only started three Serie A games in the current campaign.
As a result, the 25-year-old is keen to secure a transfer in January and Arsenal have emerged as an option.
Intermediaries have offered Arsenal the option of signing Arthur on loan and the North London club are weighing their options.
The Gunners want to bring in a midfielder this month, but long-term goals like Lyonnais Bruno Guimaraes will be difficult to sign during the current transfer window.
