Hanley praises Parcell

Ellery Hanley was grateful for how Hull KR’s Matt Parcell took the news that he would not be making the Combined Nations All-Stars team after being absent due to England duo Daryl Clark and Kruise Leeming got the green light on the Aussie.

Parcell was omitted from the 17 who were beaten by England 18-4 on Saturday night, but Hanley was quick to praise the fictional Rovers halfback for his drive and influence before the game.

“First of all, what I would like to do is thank Matt Parcell,” Hanley said. “He was our 18th man for the contest, but the way he’s performed throughout the week has been fantastic.”

Hanley also said it was a tough call to make to drop the dynamic hooker, but the way he acted off the court stood out against the All-Stars boss.

“Of course someone must have missed out and unfortunately that was Matt. However his contribution was massive and he deserves a big thumbs up for his drive.”

However, Rovers stars Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Ryan Hall took to the pitch as England beat the All-Stars after tries from Jake Wardle, George Williams and John Bateman sealed a comprehensive victory for the Shaun Wane’s team as part of this year’s preparation. The World Cup is heating up.
