Rangers and Celtic latest as Griffiths exit confirmed and Dundee keen, Kyogo injury update and SPFL offers

Barry Ferguson reckons Rangers could agree cut-price deal with Hearts to bring in John Souttar THIS month.

The defender has already agreed a pre-contract with the Light Blues.

But Ibrox legend Ferguson thinks it could be difficult for the Jambos to hang on to Souttar if his mind is elsewhere.

Speaking on Go Radio, he said: “I think Gio will want to bring in one or two players. Itten came back because Jermain Defoe left the club.

“It depends on what kind of money he has or if he can bring in John Souttar.

“I think it’s a real possibility now that it’s been announced that John Souttar has agreed to come to Rangers.

“It could be tough for John Souttar at Hearts now.

“I know the fans are disappointed so I think Rangers are in control and maybe they can go and make a cut price offer.

“Hearts was looking for half a million pounds if he were to come in the January window.

“Now I think you could watch half of it. You now have a player who has agreed to leave; is his heart going to be there?

“I think John Souttar is a true professional and he will always give 100 per cent for Hearts, but it becomes a difficult situation for a player and I don’t know how it will work out.

“I think Rangers will try to get this deal done. I know Gio said they wouldn’t try to do it, but I think there’s something behind it to try and get it.

“For me, Hearts is in pole position to enter Europe. They’ve had a fantastic season so far and Robbie will obviously want to keep his best players.

“But at the end of the day, John Souttar’s mind might be elsewhere.”
