FA working with government to get Chelsea fans into Cup semi-finals despite sanctions

The FA are working with the UK government to ensure that Chelsea’s FA Cup final against Crystal Palace will be a sold out despite the restrictions in place at the club.

Wembley is due to host the game on the weekend of April 16-17, but Chelsea are unable to sell their own tickets due to owner Roman Abramovich being sanctioned by the UK government.

In a statement ahead of the quarter-final win over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, Chelsea expressed concerns about ‘sporting integrity’ issues if fans were unable to attend games.

Schick withdraws from Czech Republic squad through injury

Bad news for the Czech Republic as Patrik Schick is forced to withdraw from the international squad due to injury.

They will face Sweden in their World Cup play-off semi-final on March 24, before a potential final against Poland five days later.

The striker, who was co-top scorer with Cristiano Ronaldo in last summer’s European Championship with five goals, has been called up to the Czech Republic squad despite being out since February 18.

BREAKING NEWS: Tyrick Mitchell has been called up by England

Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell has won his first-ever England call-up in one of four changes for the Three Lions.

Mitchell, Kyle Walker-Peters, Sam Johnstone and Ollie Watkins replaced the injured quartet of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James, Aaron Ramsdale and Tammy Abraham.

England will face Switzerland and Ivory Coast in friendlies at Wembley Stadium.

Bale will have a physical condition determined by Wales

Wales will determine Gareth Bale’s fitness for their next World Cup qualifier after the striker was deemed too ill to play in Real Madrid’s 4-0 loss to Barcelona.

They will face Austria in Cardiff on March 24 in the World Cup qualifying semi-finals.

If they progress, they will face Scotland or Ukraine in June for a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden charged after ’12 men’ tweet

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has been charged by the Football Association over comments he made on social media after the club’s Premier League defeat at Chelsea.

Hayden has been charged with inappropriate conduct after sending out a tweet that read ‘a few performances by the boys against 12 men’.

It is understood the FA contacted Hayden to seek further information regarding his remarks before charging him.
