James Acaster is due to release a new book in August, titled James Acaster’s Guide to Quitting Social Media, Being the Best You Can Be, and Saving Yourself From Loneliness Vol. 1.
The blurb explains: “This is a self-help book like no other. Because you don’t help yourself, James Acaster helps you.
“When James quit all forms of social media in 2019, he felt like he was born again, but feared he would go through withdrawal and be lured back online to enter a popularity contest without end with only one possible winner (f*cking Zuckerberg) He knew that to stay sober he had to replace everything social media gave him with real three-dimensional activities.
“And that’s how James found ways to anonymously bully strangers, to see pictures of everyone’s dogs, to get invited to as many parties as possible, to be immediately aware of all the celebrity deaths, getting public figures fired, arguing with everyone about everything, etc. more without even owning a phone (he painted on his old screen to keep himself from looking at Instagram) .”
Published by Headline on August 18, the 304-page book will also be available as an eBook.
