It’s Ruder Than Rude – Boston News, Weather, Sports

When we were kids (growing up in the Berkshires) we sometimes played a game called What is grosser than gross? The game often turned into insults about our cherished family members. Class, I know…

I think today’s weather could be used to answer that question. Shit ! it was hot AND humid and for me I always struggle more with high humidity than high heat. Earlier today, dew points for most of us were hovering around 70. I decided to look at how many days (like today) *normally* happen in August…

Boston typically has eight such days with high humidity and today marked the tenth day of August 2022. The good news is that we are tracking a front that will push all that tropical air seaward on Wednesday!

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the front was located just west of the Buffalo-Toronto area. This front will cross New England late tonight and bring showers. The timing of the arrival of the front (early morning) means that the atmosphere will not have much energy to interact with said front, so expect some showers, maybe a heavy downpour but no rain or winds important. Rain gear may be needed if you leave the house/apartment between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., but after 8:00 a.m. the day is dry. Also, this 3 hour window does not imply 3 hours of rain, but rather a 30-45 gust of rain occurring between 5 and 8 a.m. depending on your location (Worcester 5 a.m., Boston 6-7 a.m. and Portsmouth-Plymouth 8 hours). In the afternoon, we rejoice…

The front, the clouds, the showers as well as the high humidity will be well offshore. Check out the dew point trend throughout the day…

This will set the table for great weather in early September for Thursday and Friday…

And it’s nicer than nice!
