‘Without a doubt’ – Frank Lampard claims Everton ‘role model’
Frank Lampard believes his Everton side’s setup at the weekend provided him with the perfect defensive ‘model’ going forward and praised Jonjoe Kenny’s attitude.
Goals from Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane and Anthony Gordon helped the Blues to a fine 3-0 win over Leeds United at Goodison Park.
It was the first time the Blues had won all three points in the Premier League since beating Arsenal 2-1 in early December.
However, the match was also the first time the Blues had managed to keep a clean sheet since drawing 0-0 with Tottenham Hotspur in early November.
And Lampard believes keeping clean sheets isn’t just a true team effort, but the more his team keeps, the better chance they have of winning games.
Lampard told evertontv: “Without a doubt, clean sheets or concessions can sometimes be seen as something for the defenders and the goalkeeper, but that’s a team thing; Can we keep our opponents away? of our goal and recover the ball at the top of the pitch?
“Yes, we certainly did. There will always be times when you have to defend your box – and the guys handled everything there very well.
“It’s a model that we have to carry forward. If you keep clean sheets you have a great chance in games, especially with what we have going forward.
