Britney Spears appears to be shaming Christina Aguilera on social media

WASHINGTON: American singer-songwriter Britney Spears recently appeared to be body-shamed of Christina Aguilera in a seemingly unprovoked social media post.

According to Fox News, Spears shared a quote from comedian Rodney Dangerfield on her Instagram account. He said, “I’ve found there’s only one way to look thin: date fat people.”

In the caption of the post, the singer wrote, “I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children…my dancers…I mean, if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers, I would have seemed extremely small.” She continued, “I mean why not talk about it??”

Although Spears has maintained a beloved image in Hollywood, her latest Instagram has been poorly received by fans.

One fan commented, “Oof. I love Britt, but that was in bad taste. Body shaming to make you feel better isn’t where it’s at,” while another wrote: “That’s rude. I’m disappointed, Britney,” Fox News reported.

Spears had expressed her frustration with Aguilera just a year ago for not speaking out enough during her mostly controlled conservatorship by her estranged father, Jamie Spears.

Aguilera was asked to comment on their relationship during a January 2022 interview. There, Aguilera said of Spears that she was “someone I have so much respect and admiration for.”

She added, “I couldn’t be happier for her…every woman deserves to feel empowered and to own it as she sees fit.”

Although the duo have enjoyed a controversial relationship, they share several mutual friends – from Madonna to Paris Hilton, who were both at Spears’ wedding in June.

Following Spears’ latest post, Aguilera did not respond publicly, but Entertainment Weekly reported that she had abandoned Spears’ Instagram account, according to Fox News.
